Aloha family... I feel we need to produce an event for the general public to be involved in; so we can generate interest/membership to the Wooded Way, and support for clearing the land at Larnook in preparation for creating the Gaia Dreamspace. Here's my idea...

Let's co-create with many others around the Earth who are gathering for Earth Day.

Earth Day, 22nd April 2010

'Sing For The Trees'

I am putting out a proposal for an Earth Day gathering on Thursday, 22nd April, to be held at Heritage Park in Lismore; at around 4 or 5 pm.

What better way to introduce people to the idea of 'The Wood' philosophies and ideals, than an Earth Honouring celebration.

I am thinking: 4pm start, meditation, drumming/chanting/singing circle for the trees, then shared meal at around 6.30pm.

I suppose I am really looking for input from some other Wooded Way members, to help co-create this gathering. If you would like to be involved please reply to this post with your ideas...

Peace

Woooohoooo! Love the idea Peace, would like to work together with you on designing a flyer, handouts to put around the place (thinking colourful, playful, uplifting, inspiring!). I also know some other earthy acoustic muso's  who might like to join in ... I'm envisioning something like a bit of a spontaneous Rainbow style gathering where people just come together on the earth and 'be'.

hmmmm! What if we make, manifest a couple of big flaglike things on bamboo poles welcoming people to sit with us? These can also be added to the flyer to say "join us at the big flags".

Flags are a great idea Beau, it could help bring awareness to people just hanging around, as well as helping people to find us...

We've got bamboo at our place we could cut to use, and I can sew, we'll just need some material - I'll scour the op-shops...

Or if there's anyone local interested in organising this with us, who has material to donate, I would be happy to use that!

Oliver was talking about drawing a picture to put on a flyer; I'll see if he's still keen and encourage him to do it. We'll have to do flyers soon, as there's less than a month till Earth Day (3 1/2 weeks!)

peace.

it does not mean to be in a place

where there is no noise, trouble

or hard work. it means to be in

the midst of all of those things

and still be calm in your heart.

yes indeed. i feel it is important to target our actions towards specific groups, so we are attracting like minded people. something easy and laid back like 'make Peace in the park' etc. where its an informal gathering and people can turn up, meet up and eat, sing, play music together.

Primarily we are intending to attract more members, ideally people who are already thinking and feeling along the same lines of what we are.

So, to put myself in the position of a wood-be member, i would be attracted to Peace in the Park, an earth day celebration to honour and generate love and respect for the earth we all share. People then share their feelings and inspiration about the earth and their experiences here.

If it flows to do a meditation then so be it, but im feeling talking circle, accoustic music and singing etc. would be apt to begin with at such an early stage in the peace. :)

Make Peace in the Park sounds great. Would you feel up to designing the whole flyer Oli? I can then scan it and print them off, along with a few poster size ones. The lettering can either be done by hand as part of the artwork or added by computer if you prefer ... you da boss, lol!

I also have a wonderful CD coming in the mail by Jennifer Berezan called Returning (to the mother of us all). The whole CD is a single, moving and inspiring chant that anyone can sing along with, so I will see if I can play it to a couple of musician friends to see if they might like to lead us in an acoustic version. It would be simple to quickly learn, and much nicer than playing the CD on a portable CD player.

Unfortunately this event had to be cancelled due to a general lack of support and commitments elsewhere by the organisers. Please leave a comment here if you would like to take over and proceed with this event. The global 'Sing for The Trees' is being held between 12 noon and 1pm on Earthday for anyone interested in organising an alternative event at this time. Thanks and blessings always, The Wooded Way Assoc Committee.
